Talybont-on-Usk lies at the heart of the Brecon Beacons in the beautiful Usk valley. It's history is closely linked to the Brecon & Abergavenny canal which passes through the village, and the Brinore Tramroad which in the 19th Century was an important transport route for coal and limestone from the valleys of south Wales down to the canal.
The area is now a thriving farming and tourist centre.
Good pubs, a range of accommodation and an excellent little village shop mean that it is a great base for enjoying our beautiful countryside.

The Community Council is consulted by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority on all planning applications within the Community Council area.
It is the responsibility of the Park Authority to alert neighbours and locally publicise and receive responses to planning applications.
An on-line weekly list of applications is available here.
It is possible to view and comment upon applications ‘on-line’ direct to the Park Authority and this is recommended by the Community Council. Follow this link
