The landscape of our Beacons can provide striking photographic opportunities. There are numerous viewpoints offering fine vistas across meadows and oak woods towards rounded hills and distant mountains. Waterfalls, rivers and a canal offer excellent creative opportunities and local education and residential centres can provide courses for the photographer. Tips from local enthusiasts include using an F16 aperture or smaller for good depth of field, set the horizon above or below the centre of the frame, be prepared to use a tripod, and use walls and rivers to lead into the picture. Our Beacons can provide spectacular colours in the autumn, winter and spring.

Although the hilltops are sometimes snow covered in winter, lanes and other rights of way are accessible and allow exciting chances for dramatic pictures.
