Long Distance Walks and Bike Trails
Two linear routes provide everything for the long distance enthusiast. For walkers only (in our Beacons area) the canal towpath is an ideal safe route. The canal runs from Pontypool to Brecon, a distance of about 30 miles, passing through scenery of hills and meadows, villages and oak woods... The Taff Trail from Cardiff to Brecon is available for both walkers and cyclists. It enters our Beacons northwards towards Brecon near Ponsticill reservoir and then passes through fine hill scenery before entering the head of the beautiful Talybont valley. The Trail, partly following the old railway line route, then strikes down the valley offering views of rolling high hills and the valley containing the Talybont reservoir and down past meadows and forests. In our Beacons the long distance walker or cyclist will find cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as a useful return journey bus service.
